The New South River Baptist Association has a rich history rooted in cooperation, unity, and a shared commitment to serving Christ and His Church. Our story began on March 24, 1924, when delegates from churches of the Cumberland and South River Baptist Associations gathered in Autryville,
North Carolina, to discuss the possibility of joining
together to form a new association.
At that historic meeting, representatives from 28 churches of the Cumberland Association and 27 churches of the
South River Association considered the opportunity to unite their efforts in ministry and fellowship. Following thoughtful discussion and prayerful consideration, the delegates voted to establish a new association. The name was first proposed as “The South River Association” and was later amended to become "The New South River Association."
The New South River Baptist Association held its first annual session on Wednesday, October 15, 1924, with 50 churches represented. From its beginning, the Association has been dedicated to strengthening local churches, encouraging fellowship among believers, and working together to share the
Gospel and serve communities.
